I had 2 days of the hollow circle. 6 days of the flashing circle and then the following day the static smiley face. I will admit that any more days of flashing smileys and I could have lost the plot. But reading back on the instructions leaflet, 5-8 days is normal in 25% of the cases for flashing smileys.I thought I missed my ovulation period this month, but I just got a blinking smiley face on day 22 of my cycle. I'm not trying to get pregnant this month, I just want to start tracking because I had a missed miscarriage in March and had to have a d and c, so I wasn't sure if my cycle would be thrown off.

Are you using clearblue advanced? I use both the advanced and the strips. Clearblue tests for estrogen as well as the LH surge. When you get the flashing smiley face it detects a spike in estrogen which occurs before your LH surge is my understanding. The instructions for the Clearblue ovulation tests say that once you get a smiley face, there's no need to continue testing as ovulation should occur within 24-26 hours.
