Chet Upham (who Chair 1 is named after) was a Texas oil baron and an original shareholder of Loveland starting in the 1950s. He bought out the other shareholders in 1972 and the Upham family are still the majority owners to this day (I think they may still own it 100%). He went to the University of Texas.
The resort’s base elevation is 10,800 feet, the highest of any ski resort in all of North America. This is a remarkable feature, but if you struggle with altitude sickness, steer clear of Loveland. Above-treeline terrain makes up a significant portion of the resort and spans hundreds of acres, with bowls offered for all ability levels. The standard ski/snowboard package at Loveland is priced at $55 per day for adults, $40 per day for ages 6-14, and $25 per day for children 5 and under. Adult helmets can be rented for an additional $10, while child helmets are included. Please note that prices are subject to change.
