She purchased it as the work of the Florentine artist Benvenuto Cellini (1500-1571) supposedly from the collection of the Vatican, but it was later proven to be a forgery. See it in the Titian Room.
It was an early work by Rembrandt: one of his earliest self-portraits, depicting the artist at 23 years old.
