I'm looking at buying a 94 GMC Sierra 1500 that's in decent shape for a work truck and a truck to drive while I paint my 98. If I can make a deal with the guy I'd like to switch it from manual shift 4x4 (I hate them) to a pushbutton. The pushbutton in my 98 Z71 has never ever let me down and I think it would be cool to do in the 94- interior.Reaction score. 32. In my opinion before pulling the 350, mark all your wires. You will reuse the temp sender and oil sender for the gauges. Also need the wire down to the starter. My harness is a modified stock LS harness, and it is stand alone. I'm still figuring out how to get my speedometer to work.The 4l80e bone stock will handle any abuse a stock 6.0 can throw at it. If not then L96 + 6Lxx tranny, the L96 and 6l90 will probably take more work to integrate, so it'll be more expensive. The 6l90 (or 80) would just be awesome in a gmt400. New style 4L60E has 6 bolt and about 3/4" longer. New style 4L60E has removable bell housing found on 4.8/5.3. You will need a torque converter spacer if you use old style 4L60E with 4.8/5.3.
