Link only requires USB 3.0. USB 3.1 (Gen 1) is USB 3.0. 3.1 (Gen 1) is just what newer mobos call USB 3.0. I don't know if the mobo makers are to blame or the Oculus software, but it can be very glitchy finding a port that Oculus finds acceptable.

I think that's how the headset optics works. The sun light goes into the headset via both lens and burned marks on both screens left and right.
