Hi all, doing a little research on a pistol which my wife's uncle is handing down to our son. Its a S&W, 6 shot 22 LR revolver, the right side of the barrel reads "22 LONG RIFLE CTG." All the serial numbers on the underside of the barrel, bottom of hand grip, and backside of the cylinder all match. The SN is: K210537.You're right, you have a Double Action .32 4th model. WE loosely call them a S&W top break. The serial number is in the correct range ( [1895] 322701- [1909] 539000) With the broken grips it's probably worth somewhere around $200-250. IT's in average condition, and there are many of them still around in good shooting condition.

If that is the case, your gun is likely named the .32 Hand Ejector or a pre-model 30 or 31. The serial number, if that is the case, would make your gun to 1904-1906. The serial number under the barrel should match the number on the face of the cylinder and the butt of the frame. You may have to take the grips off to see the SN on the butt. Be careful, because those grips are fragile.

As bruce said, pictures and further details will help. The "ctg" is an abbreviation for "cartridge" so we know what it shoots. Are the words "Smith & Wesson" stamped on the barrel?
