The Cenozoic Era began almost 65 million years ago, depicting the end of dinosaurs in the Mesozoic Era. The Cenozoic Era is further divided into three periods, namely, the Paleogene period, Neogene period, and Quaternary period, arranged in the order of oldest to new. The first period was the Paleogene period, which started 65.5 million years ago.The Cenozoic era, comprising the past 65 million years (myr), is widely known as the ‘Age of Mammals.’. Climate change is well documented [1] and mammals have a good fossil record during this interval. Thus, potentially, the two can be used to compare environments and evolution.
