I own a Polaroid onestep 2 that uses i-type film and a Polaroid 636 close up that uses 600 film. My oldest picture is only roughly 2 years old. Not all of my pictures are affected, but most are affected. They fade into whiteness, getting all foggy. I know that everyone replies with "they won't fade if you store them properly".

Probelms / Troubles the worst thing on this camera is the little display in the viewfinder. Sometimes i could read it perfectly, sometimes not. Thats really annoying. It's for shortsighted people, okay got it, but I'm not shortsighted. A Setting for this would be very nice. As I said, annoying. It may end up taking a few years to get that bad in most cases, but sun exposure can definitely fade your Polaroids in a very noticeable way. If you want to keep them looking their best, I'd really recommend displaying them so they're not in direct sunlight or at least trying to reduce it as much as possible. They’re pretty hardy - I wouldn’t worry about the tape. What I would avoid is displaying them anywhere that they will be hit by direct sun. This can cause the colours to bleach over time.Fuji Instax is a cheaper and arguably better instant film that is slightly cheaper. But for both Polaroid and Instax, the cost is closer to 2$ a shot than 1$. That said you're not going to find any cheaper film. Instant film is an extremely niche product, costly to make with a fairly small market and the fad is mostly over. After doing some tests with Polaroid color film, I wanted to see if I could find a way to prevent (or at least reduce) the way their B&W film shifts to more a sepia tone look over time.. I've started with an Impulse AF and recently got a OneStep+, and I'd say no, not really, there isn't a meaningful difference in sharpness. Also, Polaroids will probably never look like digital photos printed on film, and neither will Instax, excluding the few Fuji cameras that do actually take digital photos and just print them.
