The real kicker here is the downbeat ending, which is a bit of a downer now and was probably absolutely horrific back in 1973. You don't see films that end this way often, even today, so the film deserves recognition for being so daring. I don't really know what else to say about this film, besides that I genuinely liked it for whatever reason.
