After the war, beginning in 1920, Stevens dropped the "and tool company" part and used just "J. Stevens Arms Company" -- so your gun predates WWI. The Model 520 was discontinued in 1932 though it's likely Stevens was still assembling the model from already fabricated parts and selling it for a few years after manufacturing was stopped.

My problem is the Heat Shield/Bayonet Lug. It is NOT anodized nor the proper plum/pink color. It does not have the stamped S as well. It does not cover any of the roll marks. When the J.
